๐ธ 1. Prime Factorization Method (Easy for Small Numbers)
๐ Step: Break numbers into prime factors.
๐ HCF = Multiply common primes
๐ LCM = Multiply all prime factors (no repetition)
๐งพ Example:
Find HCF & LCM of 12 and 18
โก๏ธ 12 = 2ยฒ ร 3
โก๏ธ 18 = 2 ร 3ยฒ
โ
HCF = 2 ร 3 = 6
โ
LCM = 2ยฒ ร 3ยฒ = 36
๐ธ 2. Division Method (for HCF) ๐
๐ Keep dividing till remainder is 0.
๐ Swap and repeat.
๐งพ Example:
Find HCF of 56 and 96
โก๏ธ 96 รท 56 = 1 (R 40)
โก๏ธ 56 รท 40 = 1 (R 16)
โก๏ธ 40 รท 16 = 2 (R 8)
โก๏ธ 16 รท 8 = 2 (R 0)
โ
HCF = 8
๐ธ 3. Product Shortcut (For LCM & HCF Combined)
๐ LCM ร HCF = Product of Numbers
๐งพ Example:
HCF of 15 & 20 = 5
Product = 15 ร 20 = 300
โก๏ธ LCM = 300 รท 5 = 60
๐ธ 4. Shortcut for Co-Primes (HCF = 1)
If numbers are co-prime:
โ
HCF = 1
โ
LCM = Product of numbers
๐งพ Example: 7 & 9
HCF = 1, LCM = 7 ร 9 = 63
